SPORT – HOWITT, Samuel.  The British Sportsman. London, E.Orme, 1812. New edition. 4°. Mit 72 kolorierten radierten Tafeln. Roter langgenarbter geglätteter Maroquinband der Zeit mit reicher Gold- u. Blindprägung, Steh- u. Innenkantenvergoldung, Goldschnitt. Deckel mit Rahmen aus Goldfileten, daran anschließend eine blindgeprägte Einfassung. Im Mittelfeld ineinander verschlungene Bänder aus Goldfileten, zwei spitze Dreiecke darstellend. Die Bänder gefüllt und am Rand eingefasst von Blindprägung. Rücken mit ornamentalen u. einfachen Goldfileten, in 2 Feldern Titelprägung, (Gelenke restauriert, Ecken und Kanten etwas berieben).

The best of these are again in the active hunting, coursing, shooting, hawking, fishing and racing scenes.” (Schwerdt). – Mit den gesuchten Darstellungen zur Fuchs-, Hirsch und Vogeljagd, zum Angeln bzw. Fischen, Pferderennen usw. – An den Rändern etwas gebräunt und leicht stockfleckig. – Sehr schönes Exemplar in einem vermutlich Londoner Einband der Zeit. // With 72 coloured etched plates. Contemporary red, straight grained morocco, richly gilt and blind stamped, gilt edging (restored hinges, corners and edges slightly rubbed). Very fine copy with contemporary binding (presumably from London).
